PDXPro provides a comprehensive range of printer management services to client applications. It can be used with any software that supports an ActiveX interface.

PDXPro is a free standing component, distributed as a 32 bit ActiveX DLL and reusable in any number of applications. PDXPro is an extension to your application's Object Model. You use PDXPro just as you would any of the standard classes, by setting its properties and calling its methods. When you add PDXPro to a project or document, it becomes part of the development and run-time environment and provides new functionality for your application.

All Northwind products are licensed on a per-developer basis and include a royalty-free runtime distribution licence. This simple approach frees companies from the accounting complexities of runtime fees and royalties. Simply purchase a development licence for each person using the product and get a royalty-free runtime licence included at no extra charge.

PDXPro leverages your capabilities as a developer by giving you easy access to printer capabilities and settings whilst retaining your familiar programming environment.

PDXPro requires knowledge of a programming language such as LotusScript or Visual Basic but you don't have to be a developer yourself to enjoy its benefits. Northwind IT Systems provides comprehensive consulting and development services to help you achieve your project goals.

PDXPro comprises four main objects which together, provide a full range of printer management functions. Each object contains a rich feature set and an easy to use interface.

DocuCom object

• Provides an interface to the Zeon DocuCom PDF driver settings.
• Supports DocuCom PDF driver versions 5 and 6.
• Exposes all DocuCom settings as read/write properties.
• Set the PDF filename and suppress all dialogs.
• Deliver the PDF file by e-mail using a SMTP or MAPI server.
• Full control over standard and custom Document Info (meta data) fields.
• Enable document protection, specify encryption strength, owner and user password and end-user access permissions.
• Digitally sign the document and optionally incorporate signature graphics.
• Specify watermark settings.
• Specify compression settings with detailed control over image compression.
• Specify which fonts are always or never embedded in the PDF file and the character subset threshold.

PDManager object

• Lists names of local and network printers.
• Get the name of the default printer.
• Set the default printer.
• Get/set the Pause, Purge and Resume status of any printer.
• Get/set the Work Offline status of Windows 9x printers.

OPrinters object

• Collection object representing all local and network printers.
• Item property allows access to an individual printer by name or index number.

OPrinter object

• Represents one printer within the OPrinters collection.
• Provides complete information about the printer's capabilities, such as supported paper sizes, max and min paper sizes, number and type of paper bins, duplex printing and much more.
• Sets/gets the current value for most printer settings such as paper size, paper bin source, orientation, collation, number of copies, duplex etc

When you install PDXPro, not only do you receive the ActiveX component but also the necessary resources to begin using it in the shortest possible time. The package includes:

• Sample Test Bench application including full source code.
• Comprehensive online help in Compiled HTML format (.chm).

• Licence Utility to display the status of your licence and upgrade a trial copy to a fully licensed version.

System Requirements:

• A computer running Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000 or XP.
• Any development tool that supports ActiveX components such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visual Studio, Borland Delphi, Lotus Notes and Lotus SmartSuite (Lotus Organizer and Lotus FastSite are not ActiveX enabled).
• Administrator rights are needed to run the installation program on Windows NT4, 2000 and XP.
• The DocuCom object requires the Zeon DocuCom PDF Driver version 5.x or 6.x. It is not compatible with earlier versions. The DocuCom PDF Driver can be downloaded from the Zeon Corporation.
• Approx 5 Mb free disk space.
